  It just goes to show you how bitter the mind becomes when one removes God completely from the equation.

  So then, if God didn't kick start the universe, what did? A chaotic bang in a universal void throwing out matter, that eventually through millions of years and a process of combination and selection developed primary molecules? Molecules that transcended their very form through a chain of external events, hardening, always transcending and eventually forming a complex molecular pattern that could determine it's own existence and make incredible group decisions and have creative aspiration and inspiration..... hehe - yes, thats it, I've found the truth. Goodbye dear friends, its all clear now, goodbyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  Seriously, it was never doubted in past times that God or Gods constructed the universe we appear within. So why over the past 150 years did the doubters rise prominently to the surface and project the dominant thought?

  The contemporary man of science DOES NOT have absolute truth and CAN NOT determine & measure the essence of our own conscious existence. Take a hike and go and debate consciousness if you dare on other forums.

  You have to ask youself why the determination of our existence was simply pushed into the objective reality and steered away from the spiritual reality that drives the universe and always has done.

  Do not believe for a moment that previous generations were ignorant, cave dwelling scum without a certain refinement and understanding of their greater reality.

  Who really are the generations lacking real insight? Who are the generations pushing the earth to the point of despair?

  So much for progress and the transcendence of man beyond the glory of Almighty God.

  God extends consciousness towards us within creation and we simply throw it back with disdain within our hearts and that saddens me.

  i knew of a couple that left their mates so that they could be with one another.

  the elders promptly disfellowshipped them.

  the couple made it known immediately, that they were going to apply for reinstatement as soon as possible.

  I always wondered how David could continue as king even after being "forgiven" for murder and adultery.

  Hmm.. that always threw a spanner in my works as well. But fortunately it is an example of Godly judgement and insight over our own. The circumstances surrounding that adultery were very bad as well, so there is hope for us all no doubt !

  The societys view would be what?

  i'll boil it down to this: .

  does an "active male jw" who is married "have the right to stand in the way" of an "inactive and divorced mother-in-law"; by not allowing her daughter (his wife), on the grounds of the divorce and bad association, to see her mother?

  the mother-in-law was seen with a disfellowshipped person and is now divorced from her husband by secular law.

  Thanks - I haven't made my move yet, but needless to say "I will" at some point. It is a matter of timing. I need to play the snake if you like and slither into the psyche of the abuser here (the husband). There are ways and I can see chinks in his armour. He is so arrogant that he is unaware of the chinks he has on display.

  It makes me really sad & angry, as it is totally unnecessary. The mother & daughter should not under any circumstances be cut off from each other. The mother involved nearly lost this child when she was little and the bond is there.

  It's all dependant on my mood. When I don't sleep properly at night (like last night) I get up in a right old mood and can't understand a damn thing. Including God / life / anything and start feeling upset & angry. I kicked a fan across the room in the early hours out of frustration

  But when I am at peace and feel creation coursing through my body, then yes, I do.

  Life has got very, very hard for most of us and maintaining a healthy relationship on the planet, let alone in the heavens is getting increasingly difficult.

  I could be astract and say "yes, God is love & I love God" but that would be a lie.

  So - yes, and no, in equal measures.

  hmmm...this has been covered before i'm sure, but since we have our own prophets of the apocalypse, i thought we might have a rehash....when john wrote revelation was he hallucinating?

  had he gotten into the stash of mountain laurel leaves or what?

  it seems to me such a radical departure from the loving kindness espoused by the teachings of jesus, one wonders what he was thinking.

  Conjecture - although, interesting conjecture. I used to think that the book was written whilst "under the influence", but then I used to use LSD/Weed/Shrooms etc .... so, I wanted to believe that to justify "riding the Shaman's chariot" so often.

  The book appears to provide a vivid account of future events, using rich symbolic reference to impress ideas upon the reader and fire up the imagination. A remarkable work and fascinating to study. The imagery appears carefully chosen to express profound concepts and strike fear and awe into the student.

  The Idea of God.

  the idea of god is either a fact,like sand,or a fantasy,like santa.. the idea of god has guided or deluded more lives,changed more history,inspired more music and poetry and philosophy than anything else,real or imagined.it has made more of a difference to human life on this planet,both individually and collectively,than anything else ever has.. to see this clearly for yourself,just try this thought experiment:.

  suppose no one in history had ever conceived the idea of god.now,rewrite history following that premise.the task daunts and staggers the imagination.

  .from the earliest human remains----- religious funeral artifacts-----to the most recent wars in the mideast,religion----belief in a god or gods----has been the mainspring of the whole watch that is human history.. if the idea of god is a fantasy,a human invention,it is the greatest invention of all human history.. there are only two possibilities,"to be or not to be",that is the question.. blueblades

  ... and I think Woody is onto something there. Most people would want that sort of material acknowledgement that God actually exists.

  The only way I "recently" re-discovered faith in God, was to "question the existence of a spirit world" and head off in that direction intellectually. Once I had firmed up my faith in invisible entities, the closer I got to a belief in God again.

  Years ago I used to argue using "intelligent design", but upon close inspection, it was simply because that was what I had been lead to believe by my peers and held as much ground within me, as say cross-species evolution.

  To me from an early age, without introduction, I had looked beyond society for answers and felt in an "innate" sense, that there was a greater reality than that being presented by my secular family upbringing.

  I now listen to my "gut instincts" and use that as a partial guide towards my understanding of my relative position within the universe.

  I don't know enough about the particulars to advise you further, but if you know these people -- especially the hard-headed husband -- well enough to speak your mind, follow your instincts.

  Well, I don't want to divulge specifics, because I KNOW, that certain JWs scan these boards from time to time and who knows the links back? I could create a hideous problem for all parties involved.

  The hard-headed husband is the main problem here. He lives in a world of isolation and makes sure that his wife remains in that world as well. I could pull him up in terms of compassion, but his heart does not appear to respond to such pleadings.

  The mother involved is cut to the heart at present.

  Being publicly reproved

  years ago my husband and i were publicly reproved.

  we had gone out with some "worldly friends" from work and went dancing and had a few drinks too many.

  well someone must have been around to see us and told the elders.

  I knew of a servant in a congregation who should have been !

  Whilst dictating to others the rights and wrongs within their lives, he used to nip off after Friday meetings and knock back 2-3 cans of 9% beer and then one night vomited into a sisters sink. Leaving a mess everywhere. He was one of the most hypocritical worms I had the pleasure (?) to meet. He also managed to systematically undermine my own confidence in almost every social situation we would attend together. But I had to put on a broad Christian smile and just take it.

  If he assosiated with me now, he would find that my mind has hardened up in many areas.

  Such is life.

  Doesn't sound like scientific documentation to me.

  Contemporary science helps to support and further mans material desires and has little to do with esoteric & spiritual studies.

  Do not simply reject an entire area of study based around your own perception of how the universe should be determined and measured.

  Buy a few books on the subject. Try searching the internet for the findings of John Dee & Edward Kelly as a starting point. You may find a faith you never had before.
